How to build an indoor bench coffee table?

I want to build an indoor bench coffee table with these materials.

Is there a treatment I must apply to the pine wood first? And what type of screws should be used to attach the wood to the bench leg.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about building an indoor bench. 

I would suggest sanding the surface of the  Specrite 70 x 35mm 0.9m Short Pine Run Of Mill all around to remove any timber splinters that may be present on its surface. I suggest giving it a fine finish with a 240grit sandpaper. Once the surface is prepared make sure to clean all the sanding dust off before you paint it with your preferred sealer or paint product. I suggest looking at Cabot's 500ml Satin Water Based Cabothane Clear Polyurethane or Dulux 4L Aquanamel Semi Gloss White Enamel Paint - 4L.
