How to paint over drawings and paintings?

My teenage daughters drew and painted on the bedroom wall can we just paint over the walls or will we be able to still see the drawing/paintings

The room will be converted into a boys bedroom and will be painting the walls blue

If you’re going with a reasonably dark blue, there’s a very good chance it will cover what’s on the wall in two coats, and possibly a third if the blue is on the lighter side. The main thing to consider is the type of paint your daughter used for the drawings. As long as it’s well-adhered and not flaking or peeling, you can usually paint straight over it without any issues.

Removing the drawings first would be difficult and messy, so painting over them is definitely the easiest and most practical option. If you want to be extra sure there’s no chance of anything bleeding through, you can apply a stain-blocking primer first, such as Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer Sealer Undercoat, and then finish with two top coats of your blue wall paint. That approach will give you the best assurance of a clean, even finish.
