How to add framing to an internal door?

Hello,

if I purchase an internal door and want to put some framing on it (just a border), will liquid nails hold this together or are regular nails required?

I am reading that PVA glue is better to use.

Please provide any advice you have.

Thanks!

Re: How to add framing to an internal door?

Hello @james95,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for your question about adding framing to your door.

I recommend using small fixing nails such as Paslode 40 x 2.0mm 100g Bright Steel Bullet Head Nails - 90 Pack or similar depending on the depth of the timber framing you'll be putting on. I recommend using Selleys 500mL Aquadhere PVA Wood Glue Interior Adhesive, it's an excellent adhesive when joining wood together.

Re: How to add framing to an internal door?

If the door is hollow and not solid, will using the glue be enough to hold the light timber framing? I believe I can’t put nails into the door if it is hollow is that correct?

Thanks
