Top chord/ rafter split on the roof truss
Noticed it in the roof. Not sure what to search for to find someone to look at it. Or what a DIY solution might be. It's structural, we have a heavy terracotta roof and it gets windy here, so I'm not keen to leave it as it is.
Hi @Rob001,
This is a pretty significant structural issue, so it is not something I'd recommend attempting yourself or just leaving as is.
Your best bet is to contact a residential structural engineer for their assessment and a rectification plan.
Unfortunately, I can't see it being a simple fix considering the state of the timbers. It's likely that at least part of the tiled roof would need to be removed to replace the affected rafters.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
