Hi
We have a old towel rail that has broken and needs replacing but I don't know how to remove it.
Could anyone please help?
Thanks
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Cath5. It's a pleasure to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about removing a handrail.
Is the towel rail made of plastic or ceramic? From the crack, it looks like it might be ceramic. If that’s the case, it’s quite likely it’s been glued directly onto the wall — possibly with something like Liquid Nails.
If it turns out to be a plastic or metal rail, these often use hidden fixings. Have a look underneath or behind the rail ends to see if there are any small grub screws or clips that might be holding it to a wall-mounted bracket.
If it is ceramic and glued in place, the safest approach is to protect the surrounding area and carefully break the rail off using a club hammer. Just make sure to wear proper PPE — safety glasses and cut-resistant gloves — as ceramic can shatter unpredictably.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi @Cath5
I have the same towel rails. It looks like there's tabs underneath that maybe could be pried off with a flat screwdriver to access fixings inside. I'm not game to try it on mine because I have a feeling they're pretty brittle and I'm not ready to put new ones up yet. 😏

Thanks Mitchell. It is definitely plastic.
Underneath I can see a couple of little slots. I wonder if those are the 'clips'.
Oh great. I will try that.
Thanks a million.
Let me know how you go, so I'll know when it comes time to do mine 😊
Cheers

Hi @Cath5 and @twocutekelpies,
I suggest you're right. A flat-head screwdriver should be inserted in the slot I've marked below and levered slightly outwards, pushing the plastic away from the side of the rail and disengaging the clip. The rail should then be able to be pulled directly upwards off the bracket.

Hey there MitchellMc im wondering where i could buy on of these towel racks as mine broke in the middle and need to replace it as I am living in a rental
Hello @tom00018
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you with us.
I'm sorry but the store does not currently stock this model of towel rail. I propose either trying to glue the towel rail back together or replace it with a new model such as the Mondella 900mm Chrome Prelude Double Towel Rail or a model of your choice.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.
