How to remove corrosion from shower drain?

zach1_0-1749542264733.jpeg

I have this shower drain in my bathroom, and it has been like this for a while, is there anyway to clean it and re spray it with some kind of spray paint, is it worth trying to remove all the corrosion and then use polish to make the drain look good agian, I would love to re spray paint it to make it look new agian but not sure what type to get or how to clean the drain first, thank you all.👍

Re: remove corrosion

Hello @zach1

Thanks for sharing your question about your shower drain. Due to wear and tear the surface chrome finish on the edge of the waste has chipped and worn away. Your idea of painting it was going to be my next suggestion. I suggest having a look at this discussion - How to paint a shower grate? by @viide. There are notes in the discussion on what to use if you are painting over plastic and brass wastes. My best advice is to cover the tiled section very well with masking tape to prevent over spraying on the tiles.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: remove corrosion

Hey @EricL @thank you for that, is there anyway to keep the chrome colour/ shine rather then painting it black? Cheers

Re: remove corrosion

Hello @zach1

I haven't personally applied a chrome finish to brass before, but I would recommend applying a clear protective coat over the chrome to help enhance its durability and provide additional protection.
