Where to find free pallets?

Most Bunnings stores will happily provide you with free pallets whenever they are available. Just speak to one of the helpful team members in the Timber Yard at your local store and they will be able to point you in the right direction.

To avoid disappointment, we always recommend to give the store a call before visiting to ensure they have supply. 

Pallets come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Hi @diymatt87 

I could be wrong, but I think it's been some time since Bunnings had pallets to give away. This is part of their sustainability program. However, you will find free unbranded pine pallets by doing a drive around industrial estates.

It's great to see @Dave-1 and @Nailbag have already jumped in with some advice.

Some stores will have pallets, others won't, so there are no guarantees. The best thing you can do is contact your local store and speak with the team in the timberyard or receiving area, as they will be best placed to answer your questions.

Thanks Dave, I did think about the weight but I do have hardwood timber frame trusses. 

Definitely will look into it a bit more through. My other thoughts was some 5mm ply or something of the like but I dont mind the idea of retro fitting the sarking just as a stop gap. Thank heaps for the response mate.

Thanks Nailbag. Thats a great idea, I use to work construction and from memory often saw lighter weight ones around commercial sites.

As long as you don't need hardwood @diymatt87 then pine ones of various / non-standard (1200mm x 1200m) is all you will find for free. Hardwood would be extremely rare.
