Re: How to install led light in fridge?

Hi @tanyag,

It’s worth checking the Important Safety Information section of the instructions, as it likely rules out this product for your intended use. The manual states that it’s ideal for illuminating dark cupboards, wardrobes, staircases, and similar areas around the home, but specifically warns that it’s not suitable for use beyond that. It also notes that improper installation can cause fire, electric shock, or injury, and that the light should be kept away from moisture. Since a fridge is obviously a high-moisture environment, this product isn’t weather-rated or sealed to handle that, meaning moisture could get into the electronics and cause failure, or worse, a hazard. So unfortunately, this LED strip isn’t suitable for your fridge. The same likely applies to most battery-operated sensor lights, unless you were able to find one specifically designed for use in a fridge.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: How to install led light in fridge?

Do u have any suggested products that I could buy from Bunnings? The light has blown in my fridge so I’m looking for a sensor light to light up the fridge as now we have no light.

Re: How to install led light in fridge?

When you say the light has blown, @tanyag, is it an integrated LED that can't be replaced? Most fridges would have a replaceable globe.

There are no lights I'm aware of that are designed to go in a fridge @tanyag. Given that they are not intended for that purpose, I couldn't recommend anything, as it could pose a safety risk or fail.

I can’t replace the globe as the connection is blown I would have to get it replaced I was just looking for an alternative of putting a sensor light in the fridge

Re: How to install led light in fridge?

I'd like to say that some of our exterior IP44-rated sensor lights could work, but due to the lithium batteries they can potentially contain, it's just too great a risk, as they are not designed for that purpose.

Let me tag @Noyade to see if he has any ideas.

Hi @tanyag,

RE: I can’t replace the globe as the connection is blown.

Likely the globe socket is broken and simply needs to be replaced by a qualified person.

You can use a motion sensor light in the fridge providing you choose the right battery type.

I have picked this light for you.

Lytworx White Square PIR Sensor Light

That light requires AAA batteries and you must use Lithium batteries.

Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAA Battery - 4 Pack

The manufacturer states they can perform within a temperature range of -40 to 60 degrees Celsius.

You can pick another style of light.

But it must not have internal rechargeable batteries and replace any supplied batteries with the Energizer batteries above.

Cheers

Hi,

Just clarifying that I can use the below if I use the batteries you recommended that are lithium  https://www.bunnings.com.au/lytworx-180-lumens-1m-motion-sensor-led-strip-light_p0139574

Re: How to install led light in fridge?

Hello @tanyag

I'm sorry but I can't vouch for the safety of the product and although it states that the batteries can operate in extreme temperatures, I can find no documentation of it being used inside a fridge. The risk of a fire hazard or chemical leak is just too great. I propose contacting a refrigeration specialist and getting a quote on how much a proper repair will cost.
