Hi,
We are working on decorating our TV wall and interested in using easycraft 2400 x 1200 x 9mm easyVJ100 Wall Lining Primed General Purpose MR MDF E0 - Bunnings Austra.... The wall is blank at the moment; my question is can we drill through the paneling to install the TV bracket and the floating shelves. The final design is below.
Also, would it be easier to paint the paneling before or after sticking them to the wall.
Cheers,
T.
Hello @Tsu
Thank you for sharing your question about how to mount your TV over VJ wall panelling. Yes, you can drill through the VJ panelling to mount your TV on the wall. Please note that the TV bracket must be anchored to the wall studs as the VJ panelling is not meant to carry the weight of the TV. I suggest having a quick look at this discussion - How to wall-mount a heavy 75-inch 40kg TV by @Sugar. The discussion mentions the use of a 285 x 19mm 1.2m DAR Pine Premium on the condition that your TV bracket does not line up with the wall studs. However, if the bracket does line up with the studs, then you can screw directly into them. Please note that I recommend a minimum of three studs as a point of contact on the wall.
I believe it would be easier to paint the panel after installation. Any patching, covering or cleaning can be accomplished before the panel is painted. Whereas if the panel was already painted and needed to be patched or covered means that the panel would need to be painted again. My best advice is to have the panel totally ready, once installed there would be no need to alter or repaint any section.
