Grid Connect tips, tricks and help

Hi all,

I thought it may he good to have a feed where we could share any tips and tricks to do with any of the Grid Connect Range being Arlec, Deta, Verve, Orion.

I am learning from trial and error and really just accident so sharing with others and sharing back we may be able to create some good learning information for us all.

Please post below starting with what the trick is as the title then how to do so as the body of information.

New MAL315HA sensor light not responding and PIR sensor glow constant red

I have 2 MAL315HA sensor lights that are paired with the GRID app - One light works fine on another door, but the other one looks like the PIR sensor is constantly on (has red glow). It does not have any obstacles around it to trigger it (mounded under the soffit) and appears to not respond to motion etc. I have tried adjusting the app controls, but nothing has worked.

Re: New MAL315HA sensor light not responding and PIR sensor glow constant red

Hello @Rynik

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's wonderful to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your sensor lights.

If you have run through the basic trouble shooting steps such as resetting the light fixture along with linking it to the Grid app and it still won't respond properly, I suggest bringing the unit back to the store along with your docket and asking for an exchange.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: grid connect - Light controlled by doorbell movement sensor

@fumby @EricL

Sorry for late reply I've been under a deadline at work.

What you want to do is set it up like you have, after the light on at a timer or counter and then add the light again with it turning off.

In the Preconditions you can add the times from say 5pm to 6am, there are sometimes other preset conditions in there too.

This should trigger the light to come on for X time then turn off between your precondition times.

Orion security camera and flood light

IMG_9868.jpeg

Currently my Orion security/flood light is connected to my 2.4ghz wifi and the camera is working, however the flood light has stopped working when people walk in front of it. Smart light is on and it used to work in the past, but since changing our WIFI system and reconnecting the camera, the smart light has not worked since. Any advice Bunnings team?

Re: Orion security camera and flood light

Hi @BlakeWheeler,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

First, check the Grid Connect app and ensure that the motion detection and smart light settings are enabled. After a network change, it’s possible that the motion-activated light function was turned off or reset to manual mode. Look for settings related to “Motion-activated lighting” or “Smart Detection Zones” and verify that they’re active.

Also, confirm that any firmware updates are applied through the app. New routers can sometimes cause compatibility issues that are fixed in updates.

If those settings look fine, try performing a full reset of the device by holding the reset button on the back of the light for 5 seconds. Then, re-add the light to your app from scratch and ensure permissions are granted for both camera and light functionality.

If you don't have any success following these troubleshooting steps, I would suggest giving the Grid Connect helpline a call as they are more familiar with the system than I am.

AU Phone: 1300 267 168

NZ Phone: 0800 003 329

They should be able to talk you through the troubleshooting process.

Let me know how you go.

Jacob

Re: Orion security camera and flood light

@BlakeWheeler @JacobZ

First thing I would do is go to the device on the app and go to the settings section inside the device and forget the device and wipe all data.

Once that is done make sure you are on 2.4ghz only and repair your device and see if that fixes it.

Some data might have been corrupted when the new wifi was added.

Let me know how U go

can Grid Connect wall switch control appliance not directly wired to it?

Can the Deta 4 gang Grid Connect wall switch control appliances not directly connected to it via app?

https://www.bunnings.com.au/deta-white-gloss-grid-connect-smart-quad-gang-touch-light-switch_p016101...

I have a dumb single wall switch in the kitchen that is not currently used for anything ,  Can I replace it with the switch above and configure the 4 buttons to control things not directly wired to it via Tuya Smart Life? e.g back shed lights, garage door etc

Re: can Grid Connect wall switch control appliance not directly wired to it?

Hi @filthy,

Unfortunately, no, you could not use the DETA Grid Connect Smart Quad Light Switch to operate things that are not wired to it.

You would need to have an electrician replace the switches connected to the electrical circuits of your shed and garage door so that they can function in the app.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Re: can Grid Connect wall switch control appliance not directly wired to it?

Hi @filthy

I'm also new to grid connect but if I'm reading right you would need an electrician and probably have to chase in new cabling to the switch plate because the smart switch needs a neutral wire to power it up and switches in Australia don't have a neutral cabled to them. Hence the problem with smart switches.
