Hi,first post.
I recently bought some black rubber floor protector cups from Bunnings (38ml i think) for our dining room chairs to protect the timber panel floor.
I was shocked to find that the black rubber cups actually left score/scuff marks on the floor instead of protecting it so put felt tips on which work good but move and allow the same thing to happen again.
I've tried everything,toothpaste,WD40,baking soda mix,a rubber, magic eraser, tennis ball, fine scours to remove them and all they have done is dulled the scuffs a little.
Looking for suggestions to remove them completely?

Good Afternoon @LP100
Mmmm I have used the magic eraser on similar surfaces and it went well, Im not sure what else could work to totally remove the marks. I was going to suggest the wax pencils that you melt onto the floor so it covers scratches but your case is different.
I use this product OCedar 450ml Clean and Shine Timber Floor Cleaner when ive cleaned my floorboards. It works very nicely and dont remember any scuff marks afterwards. I do note that the floor is extreemly slippery afterwards lol to the point of dont wear socks type deal. tempted to go see if I can remove a scuff mark.... MMMM be right back!
Ok, tested out two spots
Good news and bad news tho hoping your scuffs might not be scratches.
First batch I did on what I thought was a black scuff mark... Its a scratch lol but it did reduce the actual look of it.
Before and showing the black scuff? and a scratch at the bottom
The o'cedar floor polisher I have for my floors, this has been all ive used in the last decade... never really need it too much.
A couple of drops
Almost looks the same in the pic, in real life the black line lessoned by 40-50% This is the bad news...
The good news...
Found some scuffs, was going to put my boots back on lol but really didnt want to try to replicate it...
Same deal
The scuff definently polished out, I had umpteen trys of trying to take a pic but couldnt figure out where it was lol
That roughness in the top left is a mark in the varnish from when it was done. Im using that as a reference point ![]()
gone and product shot ![]()
Really gonsky ![]()
Better product shot lol It may be worth a go. I used one of those soft multi coloured cloths you buy in the bunnings multipacks and just used my thumb and rubbed in a circle over it. You could feel the change as you polished.

Thanks for your reply.
They are definitely not scratches.
Hi @LP100,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is wonderful to have you with us.
Firstly, with the chair tips, if you are looking for something to protect the floor and allow the chairs to slide, then the felt pads are perfect. If you are looking for something that will stop the chairs from sliding and won't mark the flooring, then I'd suggest using clear chair tips.
From the photo we have, it is hard to tell if they are engineered timber flooring or if they are a timber look, tongue and groove vinyl flooring.
Are you aware of the type of flooring and the finish that is on it?
Generally speaking, you've exhausted the options that I would recommend without knowing the specifics of your flooring.
You could try a dedicated floor cleaner or polish, such as the OCedar Clean and Shine Timber Floor Cleaner that @AlanM52 mentioned, or other options such as Long Life Self Shining Floor Polish or Bona Wood Floor Cleaner, applying it with a microfibre cloth and working in a circular motion.
If a dedicated cleaner doesn't work and you've tried a scourer, you could try using some Super Fine Steel Wool.
If you can advise on the specific type of flooring, I could certainly assist further.
Let me know what you think.
Jacob
Hi @LP100,
This will likely be a long preamble...
Last year I asked our cleaning lady (LC) the same question.
The only area of our two story house that has timber flooring is the enclosed balcony off the lounge room.
Laminate flooring purchased from Bunnings:
Photo: April 2009
We spend a LOT of time there and although only a small area there is a lot of activity including big dogs with big paws.
The cleaning lady does all of the house but not the balcony which is the agreement because the cats are confined there - we do that ourselves.
LC went off to get her cleaning bag and as we left the balcony with the cats I noticed she had already grabbed two items, a spray bottle and a - tennis ball. When LC was finishing up she called us to have a look - amazing job.
I did a search using 'How to remove scuff marks on timber floor' and here is one result using a tennis ball.
Cheers
